Hi NPF,
Firstly would just like to say a big thankyou again to DC and CGK as being chosen as one of the Forum Four came as a big shock. Truly honoured to have been given this opportunity to test myself and hopefully if the $1500 is achieved gain respect from my fellow NPFers as I know a lot of you don’t know me. I come into this challenge as the young gun, the most inexperienced and as s2c stated the underdog of this challenge. Hopefully this will benefit me as there will be less pressure on me to succeed and I could come in under the radar and surprise a few people. Nice to see that my fellow Walkers Sensations Spoona, NRH and the Gaffer Gaz Walker have backed me in the online poll so thanks lads for the support and belief you have in me.
I no the other 3 of the Forum Four have posted up their background of their poker life so far and you can read my post on ‘Becoming JuniorBomber’ at http://walkerssensations.com/ .
At this present time in my student house there is a problem with the internet so from Thursday till Sunday I will be living at my mate’s house to use his Fulltilt. This mate is a keen poker player too and it means that for the first four days of the challenge I can be surrounded by poker and nothing else. No distractions from my non-poker playing housemates who will try and tempt me with alcohol, football or girls (my big weakness). During this 4 day ‘boot camp’ I will be putting in more hours of poker than I have ever done before as I feel a flying start to this challenge is essential. By the end of ‘boot camp’ I hope my BR is at around $700. This would give me a huge confidence boost and set me up for the rest of the challenge. I cannot multi-table effectively at 6,7 or 8 tables and therefore I will be looking to be playing 3 or 4 sng’s with the possibility of a 5th cash table at .10/.25NL level on my screen aswell. I will be playing $6 sngs to begin with mixing between 9 man and 90 man until I see which suits me best. Hopefully by Sunday I will have a better idea of this.
As a student at university I have other commitments and therefore putting in an insane amount of hours might not be possible from Monday to Wednesday however from Thursday afternoons till Sundays I will be playing as much as I can fit around my part time job at Pizza Hut.
There are many things I hope to achieve and learn from this challenge. Firstly, I want to get to the $1500 because everyone will be surprised if I do and it gets me better known and respected on the Newcastle poker scene. Secondly, I hope this challenge significantly improves my BRM and game selection. I know people will be following me on Sharkscope etc but at this moment my data is very bad. The reasons (excuses) for this are that I have never tried to spin myself up a nice bankroll using strict bankroll management. I was just using Fulltilt as a bit of fun and practise until my student loan came in where I was going to deposit $100 and have a real go at making myself a nice roll. It says I have played 233 games however most of these games were conducted whilst 5 tabling 9 man Super Turbos where you only get 300 chips and blinds increase every 3 minutes. These are very much a shove fest and down to a lot of luck. Therefore by October 31st I hope to have significantly improved my Sharkscope as it actually quite embarrassing right now! Thirdly, I hope that by the end of this challenge I am a better online grinder so that I can become a winning player for the rest of my life. If I get to $1500 then I am due back $400 as my 40% cut. With my new poker skills, re-enforced basic principles and severely sharpened BRM I can hopefully from November spin that $400 into a very tidy sum indeed. I will try and update this thread every day and hope you all follow my progress and any advice or criticism will be much appreciated. I will be playing on FullTilt under the screen name JuniorBomba. Thanks for reading.

Ok well I got off to a flyer winning my first 9 man tournament for $27. But from there I have just had a terrible time at the virtual felt. The river has been drowning my dream everytime. The only positive I can take from this is that I am getting my money in good in every spot only to be outdrawn but eventually things should turn my way.
I get my KK all in and called after the turn against QQ..sigh as a Q comes on the river. My AQ all in on a 7 high board called by A 10... sigh as 10 on the river comes down. My aces all in pre flop against KQ of clubs. I have Ace of clubs. 3 clubs on flop and no more help...sigh! Some guy shoves UTG on the bubble of a 9 man tourney and I think that I must be ahead with my pocket Jacks and I call. He flips over A9 and just on cue the river brings an ace. After playing for an 2 and half hours I am still at $500.

after my run so far CGK i am starting to side with you. raise with A 10 pre flop 1 caller. Flop X X A. I bet he reraises and I shove. He calls becuase he is severly priced in. He turns over KJ..wtfffff! Turn 10, river Q!! My AK vs Kj all in pre flop...flop K,J,7...turn J...sigh! Playing cash has been very good to me tho. Sat down at 1pm with $25 and its now $66! Helps getting quads twice though..weeeeeee.

in all seriousness this is why i see this challange as very very hard to do - at the small stakes you guys are playing a couple or river killers can be difference between a winning and losing session, and my opinion of on line convinces me the software will make this a virtually impossible challange to conquer.

imo if i were to do this challange i would have approached it via the cash way and not the sng. you can maximise more profit in a cash game with one hand than same hand in a sit n go. i.e you get it all in 6 handed in a sit n go With AA and get called by AK and win - you still aint guarenteed to cash in that tourney, however same scenario on ya cash table ad ya one buy in up straight away

well atm i have stopped the sngs and i am 2 cash tables and waiting on another 1. i think i may apporach this challenge using more of the cash games to succeed.

but the +ve of that is also the -ve when you get done on the river.
games at these level are far too tight imo to make enough without like 10-20 tabling for every minute of the month

Hi Bomber,
Keep at it, it sounds like your playing really well so thats a plus. Why have you changed your stratergy so early? Did you not expect abit of variance, imo it's part and parcel on this challenge, and perhaps the hardest part of this challenge in the mental side dealing with variance/running bad, even perhaps playing bad at times.
IMO, keep going at what you know best, these sngs are crushable and you sound like you have the game to be able to crush them.

bit of bankroll advice bomber if your thinking of playing cash, seriously think about leaving your table when you get to a reasonable amount like above and sitting down else where with $25 again , your then minimizing the risk of your bankroll, coz when you get it all in pre with AA and get turned over you will be pissed that you lost everything instead of just 1 buy in , and you would still end the session $41 profit instead of $25 down.
$66 is more than 10% of you overall bankroll and you should not have that much on table , remember its a challenge to make money .

well done lad, what xenocode said is a massive help in increasing your bankroll properly. 10% on one table is far far too much.
Don't really agree with Rosco seeing these games as too tight to profit from. If i'm reading this right then my suggestion is just to change approach, value betting absurdly hin is a massive must at these levels. If i've read it wrong i apologise.

Sorry I havent posted. Problems with me trying to get on forum but I used a bit of genius to go onto walkerssensations.com and use the link to my thread from there.
Ok so my 1st session of the challenge saw me sit there for 4 hours to make $2..weeee 50cent an hour. You get more for stitching footballs in Taiwan! I ran really bad but got my money in ahead everytime so thats all I can ask for. Played a second 2 and half hour session on the nightime playing two cash tables and 4 $6 9 man tourneys. Finished $19 up in cash and cashed in all four Sng's, winning 1 and coming 3rd in other 3. Very happy with that session and finished the day with my account at $547.
I started my session today at 9.20am and it was one of the worst sessions I have ever had. Same strategy as yesterday with 2 cash tables and 2 9 man Sng's at all times. However, today I couldn't catch any cards, was playing badly and the river still wasn't too kind to me. I was $80 down in this session before I decided to take up my pal SamJ's advice and play the $6 90 man Sng. I doubled up early on but after that I struggled all the way through, stumbling across the final table in the process. Shortstacked at the final table and on the 2nd hand I get AKo and I shove for 9.6k(chip average 30k). I get 1 caller who flips over 66. Using Mike Matusw's positive thinking however, I manage to hit trips and more than double up to 24k.
Few hands later and soem guy three seats in front of me shoves for 14k, fold, fold and I have JJ and I call. He turns over AQ and with an A on the flop I am shortstacked again.
I then get very lucky(cant exactly remember the hand) but I river trips with K5 and i double up. Few hands later some kid shoves for 9k and I call with AJ. He has 88 but with a J on the flop, my rollercoaster ride continues.
A few blinks later and I find myself 3 way, huge shock as I have struggled the whole tournament so far. This 3 way battle takes a while but eventually I end up heads up as chip leader. I let him bully for 3 hands in a row. Then he trys again on a fourth hand. I call 3xBB with KQ. Flop QQJ. I check, he bets, I call. Turn is a blank. I bet , he shoves, I call. He turns over K9..no ten please...no ten please....BRICK! $144 for 1st and a $80 losing session turned into a $64 up session!

Hi Bomber,
Some good posts on this thread and some good advice. I haven't posted once on any of the related threads to the challenge but have found myself becoming more & more interested.
I was railing u last night for a bit and noticed u were playing 2 x turbo sngs and 2 x 10/25NL cash. You were doing well on all 4 tables but IMO if u r multi tabling I would stick to either cash or sng, not both. Earlier in the summer i took up the NPF $50 challenge (that pads posted) but started straight at the $400 bank roll level, i took my roll up to $1100 in a few months although this was with rakeback and bonus' etc so not that impressive. However, I learnt a lot about my online game & brm, just like everyone in this challenge will, so do have some similar experience that may help.
Anyway, personally I found that when i was multi tabling cash & sngs I wasn't as profitable or effective; different thought processes, table dynamics etc and often I made mistakes as my brain couldn't switch between the different game types quick enough, particularly if they are turbo sngs. If you are playing long sessions this will only become more difficult. I definately like the idea of playing both variations but not at the same time, for example I prefered to have an hr or two of sngs then switch to cash. Maybe worth considering? Saying that, when i was railing you seemed to be doing pretty well so maybe its just me!

I definately like the idea of playing both variations but not at the same time, for example I prefered to have an hr or two of sngs then switch to cash. Maybe worth considering? Saying that, when i was railing you seemed to be doing pretty well so maybe its just me!
GL
myself and Stumpy were talking about this yesterday and both agree with what you have said. We were going to say to Bomber yesterday the very same thing you have explained but decided to leave it another day or 2 until he got into the challenge more.
IMO already we are seeing even at such an early stage how each player is adapting and tweeking their games and game selections from original plan for the positive it seems.

I can not multi table at all. I just don't like playing that way, i feel as if i can't steal on multi SnGs aswel as i can on 1 table. And as i play poker primarilly for fun i see no need in reducing my profit per tourney just to increase my hourly rate marginally. However, recently i've got into playing 1 SnG (as usual) but also playing a cash game at the same time. I know this dosn't qualify as multi-tabling to the 6-10 table pros but this dosn't seem to impeed my SnG game and i'm able to still get a feel for the LAG players on both tables.
So in summary :p I can't multi SnGs and i don't enjoy playing cash poker at all really. But playing 1 SnG and 1 cash table at the same time allows me to boost my hourly rate without affecting my enjoyment of the game.

I Played too long, trying to reach the $800 mark which shows my lack of experience and basic stupidity. I was really tired and started making mistakes and in the end finished for the day on $750. Still going strong and I will be back at the tables again tommorow early. I am feeling really confident and until this minor blip I was playing on top of my game. As for the mutli tabling cash and Sngs at the same time...I agree with CGK in that it is working so no point changing a winning system!!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH! I hate downswings. Another cash session and was disgusting. Everytime I woke up with a hand, I was getting repopped left, right and centre. Bricking flop after flop and had some sick hands. For instance I flop fullhouse with pocket 10's on a 10 3 3 board. Bet out, get reraised and I shove. Get called by AA and A on the turn loses me a monster pot. This one was even more sick! Pocket 10's again, I raise and get 1 caller. Flop Q Q 10! I bet and get called. Blank on turn so I bet again and get called again. Blank on river I bet again and get shoved on. I struggle to put this guy on a hand here except maybe KQ or JQ. AQ would possible raise on the flop and when I raise pre flop 4x BB I don't expect the guy to have Q10....but when I call of course he had Q10...FML!! Left my session because I needed to regroup and get I will go back soon and try and recooperate some of my losses. Down $30 for the day now even after a great session this morning.

Today I have been Full Tilt's bitch...and I have been bitch slapped hard!! I am now stuck in what staretgy to take from this point in. Have you thought about having a stop loss limit? Running bad sometimes leads to playing bad/chasing/lack of confidence. Play longer when winning/running good and play less when running bad. It always hurts to stop when your losing but you could end up saving money in the long run.

Bomber what mullet has said about when to play is paramount, winning=play more, losing =play less.
As you become acoustomed to online you will see these swings constantly and you have to recognise them and take the relevent action otherwise you will just keep dumping money ( hense the 22 hand , you should of left the game untill another day).
Overall what you have to look at is that you have increased your bankroll to $625( im assuming all you lost was $25 in the 22 hand after this post), this is an increase of 25% of your overall bakroll to this point, this is a fantastic start to the challenge which if your succesfull will take you the best part of a month if not all of it, it will not be easy m8.
Focus on the positives in that your heading in the right direction , the challenge has just started and online poker is a serious phycological and emotional game and when things are going wrong you got to relize and not tilt of money.
What has happened in 3 days is that you have WON , not lost , think positive and continue to play the games and the same way that has got you a 25% increase on your starting bankroll.Remember you will not always win and losing sessions will happen , thats guaranteed, just try to limit the loses , its all part of bankroll management.
GOOD LUCK:)

I totally agree Bomba, as Gary says "it's only 2 days into the challenge" always look at the positives mate.
Regardless of your last session, it's a profitable start and you're ahead of schedule, I hear what you are saying about sitting on $830 but that bad session could have been tomorrow and you would still feel the same, don't worry and never think about the "what if's" we all know it's a mentally draining game because of the swings but if you had played steady for 2 days and returned a $150 profit you'd be sitting there right now in a totally better frame of mind. Stay positive and do what you're doing. Self doubt and lack of confidence is a killer, get back on that horse and hang in there. Doing great by the way, keep it up.:D

Becoming a great thread to read and as others have said its also a skill to be able to walk away and close down after a losing session and hopefully something you will learn doing this challenge wherby without the eyes of others watching you just possibly fool yourself to what happened.
Handling the swings is crucial to you succeeding and an excellent learning curve for you personally.
You seem cut up youve dropped from $800+ back down to $600+ but that is always going to happen and being able to cope with that will also improve you as a player.
Finally I agree with some other comments in NOT mixing cash n sngs in same period. Thats a no no imo , play one or the other in same sessions.
Good luck and keep the positive mental attitude;)

I think if you are playing bad or feeling tired yes no harm in taking a break to try evaluate what you were doing wrong or just to have a rest, if you are simply running bad you should keep playing, the same variance will still be there weather you take a break or not.

I am playing much, much more. As I have said I never took online poker that seriously and would just play a few hours here and there and never really had a strategy or game plan. From Thursday afternoon to Sunday night I was off uni so I was getting up at about 10am and jumping straight into it. Playing for 3 hours or so. Take a break and repeat! I think it definitely affected my enjoyment when I was losing (obviously) but when I was winning, especially that sick day on Friday where I made $200 I have enver enjoyed online poker so much. However, I think it could have affected my game as I wasn't used to playing for so long and concentrating for so long and therefore towards the end started slipping away from my 'A' game.
Those four days made me realise that I don't think I could do it for a living as it is socially constricting and dealing with the swings is psychologically draining!

So it begins...a day's break seems to have doen nothing for me as my latest session gets off to a terrible start. 1st hand of cash..I have KK and raise 3x BB in CO. Button calls. Flop 7c Ks Qs. I bet, he reraises and I flat call. For some reason I check(mistake number 1) and he checks behind. I know he is now on a big flush draw...and he hits it.....and mistake number 2...I bet he he reraises and for some reaon he still gets paid off! After my QQ loses a $10 AIPF hand against AJ i leave cash. Started four tabling $6 90 mans. I exit number 1 with AK on button. 3 people limp in before me so I make a big raise of 5x BB to make it look like a squeeze play. Blinds fold and 3 players call. Flop 2 A Q. Checks to me and I bet 1500 into 2100 pot. 1 caller who bets out for 1300 on turn with a 5. I know to myself that he believes I was squeezing and I ship it in and he insta-calls with A 10.....10 on river and instead of being 2nd in chips out of 70 i am just out!! My exit hand for number 2. In SB with AJ. Button min raises when it is folded round to him, I shove as I only have bout 8x BB. BigBlind folds and button calls... with 97... 7 on flop and I am out of number 2. Number 3 down to last 16. Some kid raises it up and its folded around to me. Seen this guy raise with K9 and A10 UTG a lot so I shove with AQ. He calls with A9...9 on flop and I am gone from number 3!!! Exit hand for number 4. Down to last 15 again. I have AA in SB and some kid min raises. I shove with the blinds quite big. Called by J10. Killer of all flops of 8 9 10. Blank on turn and Q on river. FML out in 15th!!! Number 5 exit hand...down to last 18 and folded round to me on button and I shove with AJ(at this stage blinds are big) and i run into AK of SB with no help..out in 18th. Number 6 exit hand. I have AJ and I call a raise of 3xBB. Flop is A x 8...he checks but to quickly for me and i suspect he has AK or AQ and I check behind. J on turn and he checks and I bet he reraises as I stil put him on AK or AQ and he calls with 88 for trip 8's Some kid seriously what can i do!!!

Really unlucky Adam, all you can do in poker is get your money/chips in good, the rest is nothing to do with skill or anything you can change, i think you should look at the session positively for this reason, and hopefully the cards fall kinder

Ok 1st cash. Down to 7 on FT. Card dead to start then I get QQ and when someone shoves I call. He has Q10. He hits a flush on river!! $18 is nowhere near good enough! All the way down to $480 now! I played so well in the latter stages of that tournament and deserved a big cash! QQ vs Q10....88% to 10%...FML

Its not going too bad.
A week isnt very long at all, esp in terms of variance.
All 4 need to stop looking at the target as a whole and start aiming to make a PROFIT. Being up is good enough, stay up, money turns over more money.

After the first few days of this challenge I thought I was more comfortable at cash because of the quick profit I made. However, I now seem to prefer playing the 90 man sngs as the swings are a lot less brutal than cash. I don't have any stats except I beleive for this challenge I am down on cash but up on sngs!

Over the past few days I have really taken my eye off the challenge and ahvent really concentrated. So today I told my self I would get back on it. Started with my bankroll at $553 and started firing up the 90 man tables mixing between $6 and $12. Had such a bad session. Nothing was going right for me and had some bad beats. My last tournament I was chip leader with double the final table average with 25 people left. I thought this was the one I could bink and boost my bankroll towards the $700 mark. At exactly the wrong time I started running bad and lost half my stack on the bubble. Ended up finishing 7th for $36. No way good enough. Bankroll at $475. Feel probably the worst I have the whole challenge at this minute because I have been stuck between the $475 and $550 mark for a good week now.

Dont give up, keep the confidence, everyone needs to look at this (who's in the challenge), out of the 4 challengers, one is out in front, and thats pads, now its been said in the past about his cockyness, and i'm sure he is 1st to say it, but he has alot of confidence when at the tables, and this is the state you must be in when player poker, if all you can think is i run really bad or feel stressed, then dont play. Need to maintain a confidence in your game and take the beats as they come, Adam, you are a great player, who started off so well, get back to that mind set and the roll will grow, gl and think positive!!!!!

Read my thead Adam, it will make you feel better. I'd fkn love to have a $475 roll. lol.
Seriously matey, railed loads of your sessions and think your a top notch player, the sik start you had just proved it. If you don't feel like your playing well and or running well then I suggest opening up less tables and try to focus more on your stack size compared with others at the table rather than where you sit overall in the tournament. After 6-10 orbits you should be able to work out what stacks you need to target and who to keep away from. Will give you a little edge in the latter stages and help you maintain your stack if you go card dead.
That said my advice probably holds no weight any more. :o

Cheers mark, your advice is very important to me and when a player of your standard tells me I am a top notch player it means a lot. Going to 4 table some more 90 man tournaments tonight and hopefully get close to the $600 mark or at the very least get above $500.

agreed...completing with shite from the SB is a huge leak and generally gets u in huge trouble ^^ as above^^. The amount of times u smash the flop in the face with shit from the SB compared to completeing and missing will still leave u down.
Even if u fold and hit u can still use the classic 'i had 82 there...wish i had called'
Keep at it tho Bomba u showed at the start u can make a profit out of this so keep at it stay focused. Instead of looking at thr $1500 target, set u self short term targets per day
Are you implementing BRM to sit at 50nl? or just simply trying to spin it up without regard? Interesting!

Big +1,
I've had constant disagreements w/both established players & less experienced players about completing w/ATC because of PO.
1) Your OOP the entire hand.
2) IMO players confuse equity of hand & PO w/% of winning.
3) Playing Ax, Kx, Qx etc etc out of SB have far greater reversed implied odds than implied odds...for example Kx on a Kxx flop is either going to win you a small pot or lose you a big pot playing OOP vs. experienced villain.
4) Obv in a multi-way pot it's standard to complete w/56o 810o A3s etc etc & reassess on the flop but w/these holding's your likely to know where your at for the rest of the hand & usually drawing.
But yea Jnr Bomber, IMO completing w/82o is just asking for trouble M8 & I'm either opening or folding...given the size of the blind's I'd be reluctant to enter this pot so I'd be given the BB a walk.

good post and the kind of stuff I hoped these challenge would draw. obvious stuff to ppl whove played a while, but the opportunity to post it after a situation makes it way more potent. good stuff
I would say though, this is one thing we all find ourselves doing, knowing it leads to trouble, but cant resist a cheap flop. Probably as key to BRM (stop leaking in these spots) as anything imo.
Also alot of soft spots online where the BB will just be happy to see a flop, but most ppl would see a real neg in their game if they analysed their SB play

Sorry for not posting up recently. Basically I havent been putting in heavy sessions like I was in the first four days of the challenge. I have just played a few here and there and just kept losing and losing. My roll is way down to $280 and yesterday I really thought I would never get back to the $500 mark. However, after reading about Mark Trett boosting his roll from about $260 to over $800 I feel postive and optimistic that if i run well for a few days in these 90 mans I can crawl my way up to the $500 mark and then push on in the last week to try and make some profit. Any advice on what I should be playing or on anything please feel free to comment.

look back at the games you were doing well in during the 1st week of the challenge and stick to them. I think your main problem has been not sticking to your game plan and just jumping from game to game which is normal for most. Big leak being obviously exposed.

I would play the 45mans exclusively but then again I would have started with them from the get go. They are the perfect thing for this sort of challenge, as the attainable roi's in them are approximately about 20% for a solid player, but they don't have the massive variance of the larger field tourneys.
Whatever you do stick with it for the rest of the month and learn that game inside out. I reckon about 90% of online pros focus on one type of game and perfect their strategy in that field.

These things are happening all the time and I am pretty much sick of this challenge and I am looking forward to it being over and playing the NPF Championships. I think TD is right in that I havent stuck to a gameplan and I have kept mixing between the games I have been playing. However, this is because I have listened to other people too much and not played this challenge my own way and it has cost me. When I played it my way and when I was from fresh from external influences I was on $830 however now I am on $230 so obviously something has gone drastically wrong. I am very scared that I will lose all of the money and let my investors down. With a roll at $230 I cant really see what stakes I should be playing as I am no longer bankrolled to play the $6 90 mans and 25NL cash. This month was probably not the greatest month for me to do this challenge as the internet in my student house's internet has not been working around the house except in the living room so I have not been able to fully concentrate with the other lads and tv on etc. It is sorted now though and I will be looking to try and play some prope sessions like I was at my 4 day 'bootcamp' and try and crawl my way as close to the $500 mark as possible.

I am not blaming other people. I 100% know that running bad or not I have got myself in this mess by not sticking to a gameplan and at times not taking the challenge seriously enough. Say what you will about PMA...I have tried as much as I can to be positive but its hard when you havent seen a winning day since day 2.

Played 3 90 mans tonight. Came 18th, 11th and 10th..top 9 get paid. Exit hand in 2nd one I had JJ and shoved all in as at this time the blinds are really high. Folds round to BB who tanks and I know for a fact is going to call for basically his whole stack with ace rag and he duely obliges with A2... Ace on river.

Hey Adam, sorry to read about your bad run.
I know first hand the pressure you feel. The mental side of poker should not be underestimated and it's very important that regardless of whats happened before to keep a postive frame of mind for a new session and during sessions.
Try to put the 'challenge' to the back of your mind when your playing and just play your normal game. Don't beat yourself up about losing the 70-30's. I mean, you want to get a lot / all of your money in in them spots remember.
If I were you I'd play 4x $5 90 man's, with maybe one more if you bust out of another. Keep to 5max a day for the time being. If your not comfortable 4 tabling then play 2x $10 90's instead. Keep plugging away at this type of game. For the time being your roll allows it, it's a little over 10% of your total roll but I think thats ok. You roll is big enough to give you plently of shots at these.
Stick to what you believe in & you'll turn things around. Set you next target at about $300 and take things from there. Forget the $1,500.
Look at it like this, try to turn $220 into $300 in 13 days. If you break the $300 great, set a new short term target.
Remember Bomba this isn't just about making $15 hundo or fail. Shows the right qualities, patience, belief, discipline and BRM to prove that you have benefited from the challenge regardless of what your roll ends on.
Don't give up matey.
cowhead72
18-10-2009, 10:30 AM
Cmon Adam,, keep plugging, you made a few hundo by day 2 and why cant you again? One good session will lift your roll back up to around your starting point and the confidence will increase again too. Obviously everyone means well when passing advice on where to play and what stakes etc but only you know where you are more profitable mate. Stick with it, theres still 13 days left, and as Mark said (I think) set yourself short term goals in the meantime, or maybe just play wthout any financial goals for the moment and try and just roll up a little. Good luck,, we're all still behind you mate.

Fuck our lives. Actually lets be positive and do it? 13 days left, our rolls are horrible, I'm actually envious of yours, we have both been past 800$, and now we find ourselves down here, WTF. We are both winning players, I know it and I really do think we have ran ridic throughout this month. That's not making excuses either, I think we have both been way way way less organised and prepared and than Mark and that's a lesson for us in the future.

but there right in many ways av lost bankrolls many times because i find even if i lose a few matches a feel hard done by and then change game plan and blow the lot. BUT THIS IS THE HARDEST thing about online poker this very exact spot bollocks your losing streak and bollocks to how many day you have and dont set any targets , ure losing and you dont need any pressure now , you need to banish all frustrastion and act like the task has begun all over again , enjoy it m8 and just think about the win , i know its hard just to do that in your head but all you really need is a bit inspiration and you can do anything , insripration=positivity.

OK so i took Mark Trett's advice in playing just no more than 5 90mans per day. Played 3 $6 90 mans today and came 22nd in first one. My disgusting exit hand is posted just above. That would have made me chipleader and in good stead for a high cash. In the 2nd one I came 11th(top 9 paid). Folded round to SB who shoves on my BB and has me covered. I call with AQ. He shows KQ and a K on the flop sees me out. Onto the final one and I came 5th for $36. Again folded round to SB who shoves on my BB and i call with A8. He has QJ and a J on the turn finishes my session $18 up. Roll currently at $256. Very dissapointed in the last one not to get into the top 3 at least but I keep getting my money in ahead and I really feel that a win in one of these is just around the corner.

Wpwpwp. You sound like your thinking a bit clearer and 3 deep runs show your obviously playing well to. Pretty horrible exits in all three btw but keep getting it in good and if you stick with it you will keep heading in the right direction. Unlucky really not to been in bigger profit. Good session mate, keep going.

ok played another 3 $6 90 mans tonight. Busted out of the 1st in 25th place. Never really got going in this one and needed a double up and eventually I shove my A10 into Ak. In the 2nd one I had a massive chip lead from about 70 players onwards. Then I lost a huge pot with my QQ vs AA on a 10 high board. Then I had AQ and raise to 1,200 with the blinds at 200/400. Some guy shoves all in for 4,800 and I call which is a bad mistake and I run into Aces. Eventually go out in 24th after I end up with 4 BB and shove with A2 and some guy calls with 88 and they hold up. Very dissapointed with that tournament as I thought I should have been in for a big score. In the last one I was down to the last 13 with only 8k in chips when some guy shoves on me for my entire stack and I call with AQ..he has JJ and I brick the world and I am out in 13th. Very dissapointing session. Quite busy tommorow so not sure whether I will get on or not but I will be back on tuesday ready to have another crack and getting over the $300 mark. Roll is $240 so up about $10 for today.

Played 5 $6 90 mans today. First 2 I ran at about 12pm. I was a bit hungover and didnt get much sleep as I was a very lucky boy last night(ya na wot a mean)! Did poor in both of them finishing around 25th in both. Did 3 tables tonight and in the 1st I finished about 50th(dont remember exit hand though). Then came 14th when I shove all in with QQ and get 2 callers with J9 and A5....A5 rivers a flush. In final one with 16 people left I shove with AQ and get called by KQ...4 hearts on the board give my opponent a flush. So low by this point that when its folded round to the SB who shoves into my BB I have to call as I have 2.5k left and the blinds are 500/1000 with a 125 ante. I call with 82 and his KQ holds up and I am out in 15th. Down $32.50 today and bankroll is currently down to $208.

So far today played two $3 90 mans. Payed for my buy in with these after a mini cash session on the .10Nl tables. Came 18th in the first 1 and 3rd in the second. Playin in the $3 10k GTD rebuy atm. Roll currently at $208. Felt good about today. Think my time off has done me good. Playing better and free from any tilt that I may have been suffering from my huge downswing. My target for this last week is to get as close to the original $500 mark as possible.

Just played the $3 10K GTD rebuy. For an investment of $6.30(buy in plus add on) I came 75th out of 1,715 for $27. Good day so far. Going to fire up a couple of 90 mans later on but at the minute my roll is $233. So I am up $50 for today. Its a start on my way to $300 and then hopefully $500.

Raise was good with position, you've just obviously ran into a big hand. Calling the extra is fine but you need to hit hard or have a big draw, in this case you've missed nearly everything so I'm check folding the turn.

Disagree here, with his stack 21k its all-in or fold to the reraise (9k). You put in 1/4 stack pre with the raise (i'd just shove here) you cant call now as you have no FE and dont know if hitting an ace is good to the reraise.
Now you've called/folded you have 4BB, no FE or time to find a hand.

That's all well and good, but if he'd shoved he'd be out  :p

Lol good response gaffer as I did go onto cash. However, I think shoving was still proabably the right play here. Was my last tournament of the day and I needed a cash to break even at least and as it was on the bubble I acted cautiously. Obviously playing this way is not going to help me win one of these though.

If you aren't commiting to the hand then a fold is a better play here with 10BB on the bubble.

Fired up 3 tables today. 1 $6 90 man and 2 $3 90 mans. Started with my roll at $229. Busted out of 1st one when I shove my 2.5k stack with blinds at 100/200 with QQ into AA! Out in 48th. Bust out of 2nd one when its folded round to my button and I have about 10BB's. I have Q9 suited and shove and the BB uses his whole time bank before calling with A8. No help and I am out in 20th. Busted out in 17th of last 1. My A6 no good against 44. I could have probably cashed in this one but I went into the last 20 with FTW mentatlity so was getting aggrresive looking to accumalte chips so i could dominate the final table. Heading off out tonight and unfrotuantely wint have much time to play until a killer session on friday night. Will be putting in plennty of volume that night on my last shot at reaching $300. Down $12.90 for today's session. BR is now $217

Fired up 3 tables today. 1 $6 90 man, 1 $3 90 man and 1 $6 18 man. Not much to shout about in the latter two but in the $6 90 man I was the bubble boy...out in 10th when my 77 AIPF vs KQ is no good. I was shortstacked and it was folded around to me on the button and BB looks me up. So annoying as with only 4 days left I could really have done with not being the bubble boy. BR is now $201

You state this as a fact...
could go his way
...then say "could"
Doesn't sound very scientific to me like.

you are wrong, you said he is out if he calls. This is not true, as you assume live rules on the deck.
you sound like the atypical "ffs would have hit trips with my 9,3" online cretin with that judgement.
He could win or not, its random and unassociated to the hand displayed

Fired up 5 $3 90 mans and 1 $6 90 man.
Game 1- Busted out the 1st when I shove AIPF with pocket 10’s and get called by KQ. Q on flop and I am out in 50th.
Game 2- Busted out in 28th in my second one when I shove with 33 as I am short stacked and get looked up by pocket 10’s.
Game 3- Bust out of 3rd one in 18th when my 77 AIPF is rivered by AJ.
Game 4-In my fourth which was the $6 tournament I came 6th for $27. Running QJ when shortest stack into KK.
Game 5- Came 8th for $6.75. Exit hand was my KJ AIPF against A8. No help. Blinds are so big that I had to shove.
Game 6- Came 3rd for $31.50. Absolutely crushed 3 way. Easily the most aggressive player. Lost a huge pot and had to shove with A8. Called by KK and no help.
3 final tables out of 6 is very good. However, bit disappointed that I did not go deeper in them. Needed to bink one really. I decided to play some cash earlier on today and lost $21. I don’t know why I did it as I should have just stuck to these 90 mans. Bankroll at the minute is $228. Possibly get a few tables in tomorrow before a big squash team beer circle dressed as a human pumpkin!!

This may or may not be the case on fulltilt, I really don't know.
But on stars the order of the deck isset after it is shuffled before each hand. So the flop will always be the same whether you shove, fold, limp or whatever.

Full Tilt have a continuous shuffle which is determined after the last action, Stars do not.
Rosco says shove or fold pre; you say he'd be out. Not only wrong, but increasingly so........
Because of the above, any change to the timing will have resulted in a different set of community cards, which may or may not have helped Junior. I don't like AJ here to a re-raise so its likely that Junior is already behind and needs to catch.
The difference is, you can't prove your right either, whereas I'm saying folding here kept him in the game which he later cashed in.

Going to play as many 90 mans as possible tonight. Fired up 3 $12 before and with an outlay of $39 I needed a good score. Only cashed in one...came 6th for $54 after my KK AIPF is no good against A6. Roll at $248. Going to see if I can get over $300 at least.
