I raise to 3300.

Big blind and limper fold. Button calls.

Flop = 5 4 2 ALL HEARTS.

What is action?

i'd bet 3000. if he raises you can fold easilly. If he calls and the turn isn't a heart you can bet out again and maybe even if it is a heart. It depends what his face looks like if a heart hits or dosn't hit the turn.

If you don't bet out, he will and you will have to fold :)

IMO i would bet to try and define the oppo's hand, dependant on the response i reacon you have easy decisions to make, you've seen Gary play alot, you must either hand a range for him, maybe a lil read, but you must bet to define a hand, as imo he is betting out if you check

i think a 3000 bet would do the same job as 6000. although like you say, 6000 looks (and kind of does) commits you.

I think betting looks pretty weak tbh! I would expect Gary Collins to shove over you with any decent pair or hands like AQ with :Ah: and then you've just burned 6000 chips.

Agreed, issue with a 3k bet rather then a 6k bet is that it looks like ur trying to buy th pot and weak imo and 6k bet with only 12k looks alot stronger. Problem with this hand, is there is so many way to play it, and i dont think in this position there is 1 correct way to play, if you check, he may, or he may bet, what do you do, probs fold, if u bet he flats what river do u really like? tricky hand, gonna do a milo and say fold pre, lol dont give u the hassle then :D
