Default Teamdobb UK Team Challenge report

Going to take alot of inspiration and repeat alot of what CG has already said in his post but feel its important that I also make my feelings known.

Has been a very difficult lead into this years UK Team Challenge event with some difficult stuff to try and handle correctly and to also keep control of. Took alot of inspiration and advice from the most level headed 21 year old lad I know who is developing so fast as a person and someone Im so proud of tbh. He kept me focused and determined not to let anything spoil what alot of people say is their highlight game of the year they look forward to.

Being at the core of how we do these events and knowing how to make them tick and work which isnt easy tbh and the reason it works is because we have the right people in the right places doing their jobs at the maximum effort level which when all put together gives us a UNIQUE event which tbh I cant think of anyone else that would be able to compete or better it anywhere in the UK.

Put this together with a casino and the personel involved there who so so excel in this event and work with us and alongside us taking advice and also putting their input into it makes it a very special partnership all round. Its so so easy to crticise which alot love to do but I must take my hat off to the G and especially the team of Mark Hunter, Varzee and The Big Cheese who to be honest were nothing short of awesome in their input and hardwork they put in. Critiscism they received for the quality of dealers provided for the birthday game has now come back to be a huge benefit to them as the dealers that dealt this game were ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I did not hear a single moan or critisiscm about any dealer and the ones that dealt all the table I was at were 100% faultless and very very professional. I also loved the little touch at the start and the intros when they all walked out decked out in NPF T shirts to the dolly dealer music which looked awesome from the upstairs gallery.

To the teams that travelled to this event I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and will return next year. Slight blip in the withdrawal at late notice by one team which is so frustrating as we had several reserve teams waiting in the wings but was too late to get one of them in for obvious reasons. A lesson to be learnt from this for next year and noted. Once again the travelling teams all joined in with how we do our games and the baiting and cheering was all in general taken in the spirit it is designed and meant to be. Thanks to those from other teams on the nice comments you gave me on the event over the weekend and especially to Tired Eyes from Kracked Kings who I have had my disagreements with over several things yet who took the time out and made the effort to return for day 2 to support his team but to also seek me out shake my hand and congratulate and thank me for a superb event and tell me how much he had enjoyed himself. That meant alot tbh.

Read the updates and Mr Roscopiko has at last found his talent and big shout to him for 2 days of great stuff he put together with his quirky style of humour and wit on the update thread

Mr E and Herbie for providing the equipment we need to make the event work the way it does and in solving the odd technical glitch that occured. Mr Es also big input with CG in sorting the music, how they were compiled and presented etc which makes so so much difference in this event.

The kitchen staff & chef at the G who provided us with some lovely food over the 2 days and the tireless work of Monica and her team of valets and Donna at the bar who were absolutely run off their feet yet continued to perform with smiles on their faces.

The admin and planning of the seat layouts and structure together with points collation is a walk in the park for S2C as hes so good at it yet its things like this that also are crucial to a professional tournament. Well done again young fella.

To the other NPF teams who all gave it 100% and who also did all we asked of them in making all the visitors welcome and in their behaviour.

To Koyte who took the timeout to provide the photograph service for others well done mate and really felt for you in ya exit hand as I know how determined and important it was for you to score points for The Radgies. Pub poker at its finest the J2 caller to crush ya QQ

To my team of Dobbas who performed like gladiators in the arena especially with 3 making their debuts and a makem we so so nearly did it again with the expected bad beat and horror stories that most other teams could also reflect on. Hurts to finish 2nd but 18 other teams would of swopped places with us. In the words of one of my heroes Kevin Keegan " I would of so so loved to have beat them" and it would of been an unreal ending to the event but it wasnt to be and finally their time arrived and I was proud as punch to see them crowned team champions. They are a very special group of lads that add so much to the fourm and any event we do but they also have something very very special going between them which simply you cannot buy. They can also play poker quite well.

HUGE WELL DONE TO FROM ME TO THE WALKERS SENSATIONS ON BECOMING NPF UK TEAM CHAMPIONS

Last but certainly not least the main man of this event and one of most genuine and nicest guys you could ever meet. The guys a huge asset and talent for the NPF and the time and effort he puts in on behalf of others should never be forgotten in times when we all like to moan about stupid stuff. He simply owns these events and no one does it like him. The NPF should be proud to say Cardguard is ours and ours forever as it simply wouldnt be the same without him. If I had anything to do with it youd be Sir Cardguard.

Thats it from me and hope I havnt rattled on too much but feel the above needed to be said. Till the next NPF event over & out

NO ONE DOES IT LIKE THE NPF - TAKING POKER TO A DIFFERENT LEVEL

Done yourself and this forum proud as ever dave; need to borrow your "never fail doomswitch" sometime.

Just keep doing what you do. Remember this forum when it was finding its legs; only the collins clan cudda turned it into this.

Hope you and scott enjoyed what you created on saturday/sunday

very very much for so many reasons and the icing on the cake was so so so close

helping Papa Walker at dinner break with tactics and Stumpy teaching Sensh too much cost us in the end

whatever we do Phil, Dobbas do it in style

Great post DC, always loved the NPF and this event proved to me exactly why. So, so pleased I made the effort. I loved the fact that when I walked into the card room I only had to take two steps and was cracking on with one of the members for 5-10 mins. Now I know why I needed to be there 2 hours before. lol.

I told the missus the next day it was the best day of poker I've ever had. Her response.... "but you didn't win? "

Was speaking with BRG and he was saying how his lass doesn't understand the unity amost us all and that most of us consider the others friends not just poker players.

Really can't say enough about the NPF and this weekend.

One question though, exactly how light do you 3BET when you have position?

nice post davey and spot on as usual

I more than anybody on the forum see's what goes on and is put into the planning of an event like this ,as i know you and scott never switch off..

but the rewards are right here in the posts for you, hearing of how people had a fantistic weekend ,put your work together with the likes of cardguard and mr e ,and the choice of venues that always back the npf to the hilt and i think raize there game for events like this ..... and its very difficult to fail

wd guys

Sometimes I have the goods ye nah, other times I'm just priced in to call. I had QJo when you 3BET on the BTN on Saturday and I insti mucked. Legitimate raising hand with my POS and current blind levels. Just wondering if I was either flipping or had 70%?

Anyway, don't put me in same opening range as Dan. He's loose, I'm not. Remember that.

I'll have to refuse the bitch request for the time being. Next time you do it show me rags i'll reconsider it. Although ye can't do that can ya, that'll fk your image up.
